For Reviewers
Studies in Language and Mind operates a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers are critical to ensuring the quality, integrity, and scholarly rigor of the journal.
Reviewer Responsibilities

Provide professional, unbiased, and constructive feedback. Reviews should focus on the scholarly content, clarity, originality, methodology, and relevance.

Complete reviews within the standard 4-week period, or notify the Editor promptly if more time is required.

All manuscripts and materials are confidential. Do not share, distribute, or use content from the manuscript for personal or professional purposes without written consent from the Editor.

Alert the Editor to any suspected ethical issues, including plagiarism, redundant or simultaneous submissions, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers should assess submissions on:

Relevance to the journal’s scope and aims

Originality and contribution to the field

Adequacy and transparency of methods

Accuracy and validity of data and analysis

Clarity of presentation, structure, and writing

Appropriate use and citation of sources
Conflicts of Interest
Decline to review if you have a personal, financial, or professional conflict of interest. Notify the Editor immediately if such a conflict arises.
Review Procedure

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Reviewer identities remain anonymous to authors and each other.

If recommendations differ, the Editor may seek additional reviews or make a decision in consultation with the Editorial Board.

Recommendations may include: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject.
Recognition
Reviewing for Studies in Language and Mind is voluntary and unpaid. Your contribution is acknowledged in accordance with journal policy and may be included in reviewer recognition platforms if opted-in.
